Scientific American is a pretty reputable source, too.  What are your thoughts?  Is their argument logical?

  1. Haha, yes! Lettuce is the most pointless food, in my opinion. There have been so many times where lettuce gas been used as a filler in my tacos. I think it’s time to start filling tacos with bacon instead if lettuce. I would pay top dollar for a taco like that…

  2. Growing 100 calories worth of lettuce would obviously produce more greenhouse gas emissions and use more land to grow than to produce 100 calories of bacon. Only because you need to eat a lot more lettuce for it to add up to 100 calories than you would need to for bacon. Doesn’t mean bacon is good for the environment. Also doesn’t mean lettuce is a good substitute for meat if you are a vegan or vegetarian who is trying to get enough calorie intake and cares for the environment.

  3. its kind’ve crazy that a lant would put out more greenhoyuse gas than a greasy pork product. I love bacon. Never cared for lettuce. So its good i eat bacon instead of lettuce. – KObe Cannon_
